Last Monday, Big Brother producer Mikko Räisänen along with the show’s director Kim Sainio and contestant coordinator Maria Elemo-Räisänen were in Oulu interviewing applicants for the next season of Big Brother, which is set to start filming in August.
Amongst the many applicants, the show’s staff chose 17 candidates which they were interviewing in Oulu. According to Räisänen, they had already received over 2 000 applications. Applications for appearing on the reality show are being carried out online this year. The deadline for application is the end of April.
In the lobby of the hotel where the interviews took place, three candidates, Krista Uusitalo from Tornio, and Pasi Kangaskorte and Jarno Määttä, both from Oulu, shuffled about waiting for their turn to be interviewed. The boys admitted they were a little nervous.
Räisänen and Sainio, who work for the Endemol production company, related that applicants are carefully screened before being accepted onto the show. “We go through all the applications, pick out the best ones, interview the candidates and go over their backgrounds. Some candidates will be contacted later for group tasks and tests.”
