During the coming summer, motorists will need to be patient when driving in the Oulu area. At least three bridge repairs in the city will cause reduced speed limits and occasional congestion.
Repairs will be made on the overpasses on Highway 20 in Laanila, on the underpass on Highway 22 in Kaukovainio, and on the Ramp 8156 underpass on Tervahovintie, between Tuira and Isko.
The work on the Laanila overpasses is expected to be a major cause of headaches for motorists this summer.
There, the overpass set for repairs is the northern one, that is, the bridge for west-bound traffic. The southern overpass is in better shape, so for the time being it will see no road work.
This summer, the city of Oulu itself will be involved in bridge repairs, on Hupisaaret and in Toppilansalmi, says Tapio Siikaluoma, the planning manager for the city’s Community and Environmental Services.
Three pedestrian bridges on the Hupisaartenpolku light traffic route will be repaired.
A considerably bigger task is the ongoing project to build the Möljänsilta Bridge over Toppilansalmi. The construction began last autumn and will continue into the latter half of 2012.
